The short version
- We do not ask you to create an account and there is nothing to log in to.
- We do not run a newsletter and we do not collect email addresses for marketing.
- If you use the contact form, we receive what you typed and your email address, and we use it to reply. Nothing else.
- We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful, and Amazon knows when you arrive from one of our links.
- We do not sell your data. There is no data to sell.
Information you give us
The contact form. When you submit it we receive your name, your email address, the topic you selected and your message. That email arrives in a monitored inbox and is used to reply to you and, where relevant, to correct the site. We do not add you to any list, because we do not have one.
The form also records how long the page was open before submission and includes a hidden field that real visitors never fill in. Both exist purely to reject automated spam, and neither is stored or used for any other purpose.
Information collected automatically
Google Analytics 4. We use GA4 to see which pages people read and which recommendations they find useful. It sets cookies and collects the usual technical information: pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, and how you arrived. We use it in aggregate; we are not trying to identify individual readers and GA4 does not let us.
We also record a non-identifying event when someone clicks a buy link, so we can tell which recommendations are useful. That event contains the retailer, the destination and the page it happened on. It does not contain anything about you.
Google's own handling of this data is governed by their privacy policy. If you would rather not be measured, Google publishes a browser opt-out add-on, and any tracker-blocking extension will stop GA4 loading. Nothing on this site breaks if you block it.
Server logs. Our hosting provider keeps standard request logs, including IP addresses, as part of operating the service. The contact form additionally holds your IP address in memory briefly to enforce a rate limit against spam; that is not written to a database and disappears when the process restarts.
Affiliate links
When you click a buy link, you pass through a redirect on this site and then arrive at the retailer, most often Amazon. Amazon can tell that you arrived from us, which is how the commission described in our affiliate disclosure is attributed. Amazon may set its own cookies at that point, governed by Amazon's privacy notice rather than this one.
We do not receive information about what you bought, what you paid, or anything else about your Amazon account. We see aggregate commission totals.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own. The cookies you may encounter come from Google Analytics, and from retailers after you follow a buy link. You can block or delete them in your browser at any time and the site will continue to work normally.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information through the contact form, email us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete it, or to object to its processing. Because we hold so little — essentially just contact-form emails — these requests are usually straightforward.
Email contact@freezeandfold.com and we will respond. For anything held by Google Analytics, Google provides its own controls and deletion mechanisms.
How long we keep things
Contact-form emails are kept as long as they are useful for replying to you and for maintaining a record of corrections, and are deleted when they are not. Analytics data is retained according to the retention setting in Google Analytics.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top. We are not going to quietly start doing something this page says we do not do.
